In the great outdoors, flowers are remarkable. They are beautiful, they smell good, and they have a magic ability to make you look really good in pictures... In the great indoors, flowers are exorbitantly expensive, they wilt within hours, and you will inevitably have dead flowers in a vase for longer than you had live flowers in a vase. It's a highly overrated industry. Kind of like owning a goldfish.
Just go out and pick one now and then.
I find I must disagree, dear Ug. Flowers indoors are FABULOUS, particularly because they have no purpose other than to say, "I love you," or "I was thinking of you". They are overpriced and they don't last long, and they are completely frivolous...that's why I LOVE to receive them. Every time I look at my beautiful flowers, I think, "Someone cared enough about me to waste money on me!"
